Cambrian Routes unique 20 day Ireland Scotland England & Wales Tour
Welcome!! Slow, relaxed touring is our goal, so please don’t hesitate to speak up if you want to stop for photos, a restroom, tea or coffee. During the tour, if you decide that you want to take a day off to just sit around, all we ask is that you let us know so we aren’t waiting for you. We want you to return home feeling like you’ve “really” discovered and explored the places we’ve taken you. Unlike most tours we will be staying at least 2 nights at every hotel to make your experience even more enjoyable. This 20 day journey will bring the very best Scotland, Wales and Ireland have to offer the visitor. You will also have a taste of some of England's most important attractions.
Arriving at Manchester airport you will travel into Wales for a 2 night stay in Snowdonia an area of breathtaking beauty and home to the biggest and boldest mountains in England and Wales.
During your stay you will visit the village with the longest place name in the United Kingdom, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantisiliogogogoch, get the chance to walk over the majestic Pontcysyllte Aqueduct before stopping off at Llangollen home to the International Festival of Music every year. Also included is a trip to Beddgelert to hear the heart-rending story of Gelert, faithful hound of Prince Llewellyn and a journey over the Llanberis Pass a rugged slate strewn mountain pass by the side of Mount Snowdon Wale’s largest mountain. Portmeirion is an astonishing concept of a village and was built as a tribute to the Mediterranean.
We then head over the Irish Sea to Ireland, staying for a nights stop in Co. Wicklow.
First it’s a trip to Glendalough, one of Ireland’s most beautiful spots. Then you move south and west to spend 2 nights in Co. Kerry. There you will visit the iconic Rock of Cashel (Rock of the Kings) seat of the High Kings of Munster and Cahir Castle one of Ireland’s largest and best preserved castles.
The Ring of Kerry is both mystical and spectacularly beautiful as you will discover during your stay.
The Cliffs of Moher top the list of attractions of places to see and you will see why as we move northwards through the Burren (a landscape that is unique in Ireland) to your 2 night stay in Connemara.
It is here that (weather permitting) you will get to sail to the Aran Islands, which lie of the westerly edge of Europe and make for a fascinating visit. There’s also a visit to Kylemore Abbey the oldest of the Irish Benedictine Abbeys together with a stop in Cong deep in the heart of Joyce’s country and the setting of the film “The Quiet Man”.
After all that it’s a 2 night stop in Dublin where you will have plenty of free time to fall in love with Ireland’s vibrant capital city.
As you travel northwards to Co. Antrim for 2 nights (visitor numbers permitting) you will get the chance of exploring the famous Bru na Boinne Neolithic monuments at Newgrange and Knowth.
The Giant’s Causeway, Northern Ireland's iconic World Heritage Site and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is home to a wealth of local history and legend. What will you make of it? There will also be an opportunity to take the exhilarating rope bridge to Carrick-a-Rede island and enjoy a truly cliff top experience.
When you have come down to earth, it will be time to head across the North Channel to Scotland and your accommodation for the night.
As you stay in the Scottish Highlands for 3 nights you will enjoy some truly fabulous sights.
Inveraray is a royal burgh in Argyll and Bute and a spell in its original historic jail will give you an authentic taste of prison life. Glencoe, scene of the famous massacre of the MacDonalds by the Campbells, is a magnificent and atmospheric place, and you will marvel at the scenery of the Road to the Isles as you travel in the famous Hogwarts Express to the ferry that will take you over to the stunning and romantic Isle of Skye.
Clava Cairns is the site of an exceptionally well preserved group of prehistoric burial cairns that were built about 4000 years ago and from there you will visit the scene of the famous battle of Culloden.
A stop off at the magnificently situated Urquhart Castle will give you the perfect opportunity to spot Loch Ness’s famous resident Nessie.
You then head south for a 2 night stay in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. You will have plenty of free time to explore The Castle and the Royal Mile. You can also do some last minute shopping on Princes Street.
Scone Palace has an exciting and colourful history and is the original home of the Stone of Destiny and the site of the coronations of the Kings of Scots, while Stirling Castle is arguably Scotland’s finest castle and is situated on an extinct volcano.
No visit to Scotland is complete without a visit to Gretna Green and its world famous Blacksmith’s Shop that has been conducting weddings for over 250 years.
Unfortunately we then have to take you back to Manchester airport for your return home, but we are sure that your visit will live long in the memory.
Why not bring 9 friends or family members with you and get your holiday completely free.
